Biography
Robert J. Allison is Professor of History, Language & Global Culture at Suffolk University. He is the President of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts and chairs Revolution 250, a consortium of organizations planning commemorations of the Revolution’s 250th anniversary. He is a life trustee of the USS Constitution Museum and is involved with other history projects.
Allison earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University under the supervision of Bernard Bailyn, the dean of historians of the American Revolution. His books include The American Revolution, The Crescent Obscured: The United States and the Muslim World 1776-1815, The Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre, A Short History of Boston, The Essential Debate on the Constitution (co-edited with Bernard Bailyn), and many other edited books.
